Cubs Have Two of the Top 10 Best-Selling MLB Jerseys in First Half
According to MLB.com, sales of Kris Bryant’s jersey were second to only Madison Bumgarner’s over the first half of the season. MadBum had some familiar company in the top 10, as both Buster Posey (3) and Hunter Pence (6) moved a few units as well. The Cubs were the only other team to have multiple representatives in that group, as Anthony Rizzo’s jersey came in at 10.
As for any significance to this information, well, I’m at a bit of a loss. Actually, that’s not entirely true. The other names on the list are all much more well-established players, so seeing a Cubs rookie up there is pretty telling. The same could be said for Rizzo, who’s a low-key guy and doesn’t necessarily have the publicity and exposure of the others on this list.
I am a throwback guy myself, thus avoiding obsolescence as a result of trades or free agency, so I did not contribute to this list in any way. Though my wife did get me a Bryant shirsey during our last trip to Wrigley, so I guess there’s that. But if you would like to get into the jersey-buying action and give the Cubs a boost here in the second half, please scroll to the bottom of the page and click one of the ads down there.
