Chicago Cubs Lineup: Schwarber Rests, Jay Batting Leadoff, Szczur in Right Field
The Cubs come into today in sole possession of first place in the National League Central with a 15-12 record. A win today and they’ll have won three straight games. They’ll have to do it with Kyle Schwarber on the bench.
Kyle has played in every game so far this season. In fact, the only game he didn’t start, on April 19, was a game he pinch hit in and ended up staying in to play left field for a couple innings. That was the game where Addison Russell crushed a three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Schwarber isn’t the only one sitting today. Jason Heyward and Ben Zobrist are also riding the pine.
Leading off is Jon Jay, followed by Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo. Albert Almora is in center field and Matt Szczur is in right.
There’s rain in the Chicago forecast today so hopefully the game isn’t delayed. We’ll keep you posted if anything develops.
