Chicago Cubs Lineup: Rizzo Back at Leadoff, Bryant in Right, La Stella Playing Third Base
The Cubs will be going for their third straight series win today as they look to take 3-of-4 games from the Marlins. They’ll be doing so with Mike Montgomery on the hill. Monty was stellar in his last outing, lasting six innings and surrendering three hits and no runs against the San Diego Padres on the way to his first win on the season.
The World’s Greatest Leadoff Hitter, Anthony Rizzo, is back at the top of the lineup after a brief respite yesterday. He’ll be backed by Kris Bryant, Ian Happ, and Addison Russell batting in the cleanup spot. Russell has picked it up in June after a relatively slow start to the 2017 campaign. He’s hitting .291/.316/.600 with four home runs in the month and this is his 16th game batting from the fourth spot in the order.
With righty Edinson Volquez — he’s 7-0 lifetime against the Cubs including a 3.06 ERA — on the mound for the Marlins, Miguel Montero will get the start behind the plate for the Cubs. Tommy La Stella slots in next in the order playing third base, followed by Javy Baez, Montgomery, and Jon Jay rounding out today’s lineup.
Here is today’s #Cubs lineup for the series finale in Miami.
