Details on John Baker Day 2019
Join us for a Cubs fan party for a great cause!
The 5th anniversary celebration of “The Night the Backup Catcher Got the Win” is almost here and you are invited to celebrate with us. Come on out to Gman Tavern on Saturday, August 3 to help Cubs Mental Skills Coordinator and one-time game-winning pitcher, John Baker, and a cadre of Cubs bloggers and podcasters raise money for the Chicago Metropolitan Battered Women’s Network.
In a bit of a change from past events, we are celebrating John Baker Day in two parts this year. From 1pm until postgame, we’ll host a Cubs game watch with music from Katie Day and The Bleacher Bum Band. There’ll also be a live podcast taping with your favorite Cubs media personas from Cubs Insider, Ivy Envy, Cubs Related, Climbing the Ivy, Son Ranto, Outside the Ivy, and Cuppa Cubbie Blue.
And if you’re going to the game, you won’t miss the main event! A half hour after the Cubs beat the Brewers, (or 6pm at the latest), Baker will be on hand to answer your Cubs questions, sign autographs, and regale us with his humorously thoughtful baseball stories. Plus, we’ll have raffles and prizes, Including this valuable autographed and authenticated Anthony Rizzo signed “Final Out” photo.
How can you be a part of John Baker Day? Simple: Buy a ticket here! It’s only $30 to attend and all proceeds from will be directly donated to Chicago Metropolitan Battered Women’s Network.
If you can’t attend, You can also donate and even buy raffle tickets through our John Baker Day page. I’ll screenshot and send your raffle numbers and maybe you’ll be lucky enough to win the autographed Rizzo or a bobblehead and I’ll mail your prize to you.
Another way you can help is by purchasing some sweet John Baker Day 2019 Swag. Check out the shirts and hats commemorating the longest and rarest game in Wrigley Field History. Only available for a limited time and all proceeds go directly to help battered women through Custom Ink.
And coming soon: Live Cubs auctions featuring game-used items donated by the Cubs and Matt Kammerer’s artwork signed by Javy Baez, Pedro Strop, and Willson Contreras. Here is the art pre-signed….
I’ll make sure to let you all know when the auction goes live next week if you’re in the market for a one-of-a-kind Cubs memorabilia piece I hope to see you all at John Baker Day 2019! Together, Cubs fans can make a difference!
Everybody In!
