Ian Happ Wins Third Consecutive Gold Glove, Dansby Swanson Hosed
Ian Happ has won his third straight Gold Glove in left field, making him the first outfielder in Cubs history to earn that many of the coveted awards. Four Cubs infielders have won at least three straight: Ryne Sandberg, Mark Grace, Ron Santo, and Anthony Rizzo. I was shocked when Happ was even named a finalist last year, but he’s clearly put in the work to make himself an outstanding left fielder and this is cool to see.

What’s not cool is that Nico Hoerner wasn’t even a finalist at second base and Dansby Swanson lost out to Ezequiel Tovar at short. Total BS on both counts, but that’s to be expected given the subjectivity of the honor. I’ll grant that Rawlings didn’t make it super obvious by announcing the finalists in order of their finish, as Tovar was listed third behind Masyn Winn and Swanson. Happ, however, was the first name among left fielders.
Welp, not much more to say on this one.
