Watch: Cubs Board Flight for Japan
Why, yes, it is a slow news day when it comes to covering Cubs baseball, why do you ask? As I’m typing this, the team should be close to landing in Tokyo to begin a weeklong adventure capped by a season-opening two-game series against the Dodgers. There’s a lot I’d rather do than take a 13-hour flight, but doing so with my team and knowing what awaits on the other end certainly makes things easier to manage.

And though I know it probably makes me sound more old-school than I typically like to be, I really dig that they’re all wearing the same shirt. Little team unity things like that are cool.

In terms of what they’ll be wearing once they arrive in Japan, I’m most interested to see whether Matt Shaw will have something other than 77 on his back.
