Justin Steele Named Probable Starter for Domestic Opener, Jameson Taillon for Game 2

The Cubs announced their probable starters to begin the season in Arizona, according to their website. Justin Steele will go on Thursday, facing off against Diamondbacks ace Zac Gallen. This will be Steele’s second domestic Opening Day nod, with his first coming last year against the Rangers.

Even though Steele already has one appearance this season due to the Tokyo Series, starting the first game of the season back in the US is a nice recognition. He also notched his 500th strikeout in that start, which is a cool souvenir. Taillon has yet to appear in an official game, though he threw 4.1 innings against the Yomiuri Giants during an exhibition in Japan.

As of this post, the order of the rest of the rotation is TBD.
