Cubs Activate Kyle Tucker, Option Carlos Santana
The Cubs announced Friday that they have activated Kyle Tucker from the injured list. He will be in the lineup at DH for the series opener against the Cardinals as he preps for the playoffs after missing 20 games with a calf strain. In order to make room on the active roster, Carlos Santana accepted an option to the team’s Mesa training complex and will be on the taxi squad for the postseason.
In other news, Cade Horton played catch in the outfield on Friday morning and the team is progressing as though he’ll be eligible for the postseason. That’s still a little dicey given the “areas of concern” in his MRI, but perhaps that will clear up or just won’t get worse if he pitches.
