Spring Roster Trimmed to 44 as Cubs Option Roberts, Hollowell

The Chicago Cubs today reduced the Spring Training roster from 46 to 44 players.

Right-handed pitchers Gavin Hollowell and Ethan Roberts have been optioned to Triple-A Iowa.

Chicago’s Spring Training roster of 44 players consists of 23 pitchers (five non-roster invitees), four catchers (one non-roster invitee), 10 infielders (four non-roster invitees) and seven outfielders (three non-roster invitees).
