Porter Hodge to Be Placed on IL
After Daniel Palencia blew the lead in the ninth inning, fans immediately began asking why Porter Hodge hadn’t been put into the game. We’ve now learned that Hodge is dealing with an oblique injury—one that Craig Counsell says will land him on the Injured List.

Hodge currently has a 5.12 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP, though it’s just a few rough outings that have inflated his ERA. The focus now shifts to the severity of his injury and who will replace him as the Cubs’ closer.
